March Meeting

The Nuclear (Power) Option:
What’s the Impact on our Health and on the Environment?

President Obama’s proposal to provide loan guarantees to build nuclear power plants has revived the debate about the safety, cost and greenhouse gas reduction potential of nuclear power. Dr. Robert Gould will discuss problems of accumulation of nuclear waste and proliferation of nuclear weapons as well as the diversion of resources from more sustainable and renewable energy technologies.
Dr. Gould, a pathologist at Kaiser San Jose, is president of San Francisco Physicians for Social Responsibility and a national board member and past national president of Physicians for Social Responsibility.
